For authors planning to submit their manuscript(s) to agents, a query letter edit examines your query letter for tone, content, structure, presentation, and more. First impressions count, so this edit will provide notes to help your query stand out. I’ll also share thoughts on the synopsis of your book for an additional fee.

Manuscript critiques

For authors looking for initial feedback and guidance, a manuscript critique analyzes your book's structure, writing style, and market fit. This service does not include edits to the text or sketch dummy itself, but it will give you a good starting point to work on your next draft.

Developmental edits

For authors who have already gotten feedback on a first draft, a developmental edit assesses your story's voice, structure, pacing, characters, and overall marketability in full detail alongside edits to your text.

Copyediting/Proofreading

For authors hoping to get a final or near final read on a manuscript, I offer copyediting and/or proofreading services to ensure your story is error-free. This involves fixing incorrect grammar and punctuation, catching typos and spelling errors, and reviewing your story for overall accuracy (looking for inconsistencies, checking against house or style guides, and fact-checking).

Authenticity reads

I provide sensitivity and authenticity reads, specializing in Chinese/Hong Kong/Taiwanese-American culture, history, and experience, mental health, family trauma, caregiving, opera, classical piano and choir, multilingualism, and Tae Kwon Do. This service includes an assessment of your manuscript to flag possible misrepresentation and bias.
